JE1 Task 2 Storytelling Within Genre's

First person shooter
In first person genre the story i usually told by putting the player in control of the character, this allows you to see what they see and experience it as if you were the character in the actual story (only to an extent since it isn't Virtual Reality). by making a game in this way it allows you to have a greater experience as being the character, its like being the protagonist. you are seeing everything as if you were stood there doing almost like a whole new reality that you are existing in since it feels like everyone is addressing you and that you're not just observing someone.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
The COD series is one of the most well knows and biggest FPS game franchises and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the latest in that series and takes place in 2065 which means it takes place in a futuristic world and you can see this because technology has progressed so far that robotics play a major role in combat both humanoid drones and cyborgs battle on the battlefield. these games make you feel like a soldier fighting on the front lines with the use of sound and visuals. These games also have a zombie mode where you play as one of a set of characters while fighting hordes of enemies.

Half Life 2

Bioshock
Bioshock uses the style of a first person shooter to get across the dark and mysterious dystopia called Rapture. again you are able  to experience what it is like for yourself as you walk around the sunken city of Rapture, while you use guns and elemental attacks. you can feel the full effect of what it is like to be stranded and isolated in a dark, sunken city while you fight against a evil iron monster called big daddy and his little sisters which look like little demon girls.

Third Person Shooter
Third person shooters are more like watching a movie in contrast to first person shooters which you are the character. These games give the aspect of controlling the protagonist, you're like  a camera following a actor on a set rather than becoming the character since you're not in their shoes doing what they're doing. it has less involvement of the player than first person and its a lot of fun almost like watching something on TV or sharing an experience with someone.

GTA V

The Division

Hitman

Roleplaying Game
Roleplaying games can vary but a lot of them do have certain tropes such as the silent protagonist, the silent protagonist trope is one of my favourites since it allows you to truly have your own story. pretty much everything can be customised from your party (Pokemon) to the equipment (Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies) to even the story that you are following (Undertale). Since the story isn't set you can do whatever you want and have a different experience every time you play, some games may only have slight differences but others have huge ones which means they have good replayability since the player has full control over the protagonists world that why games such as Minecraft are so popular and are one of my personal favourite genres.
Pokemon

Digimon

Persona 4 Golden

Fighting
The fighting games stories are usually not that complex and are short but they have one for every character so you get to see what each character would do in a certain situation in the cutscenes usually in a arcade mode, games that use this is the Tekken series. other fighting games could follow a finite story where it shows different characters perspectives until they come together and start working together, games that use this is Naruto Ninja Storm 4. usually these games will focus on the actual fighting and gameplay rather than story or how the story is presented since you could complete the story in a couple of hours but play the game for months after.

Pokken

Street Fighter

Naruto Ninja Storm

Sport
usually there isn't much story to a sports game or if there is anything that can be called a story it's almost identical to the next game of the series since the only thing that's even close to story is career mode where you create your own athlete and make them a superstar.

Fifa 16

NBA 16

Madden 16

Strategy
Strategy games are one of my favourite genres but usually its only when they are put together with RPGs . Strategy games are mind based games where you have to predict what your opponent will do and counter what they are thinking, they usually don't have much of a story or it would be a war based story unless its a Strategy/Roleplaying game where it could vary such as the bleach game which put you in the soul society to become a soul reaper following your own story but the game Fire Emblem has a fantasy war setting.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Bleach the 3rd Phantom

Total War: Arena

Simulation
Simulation games never really have much of a story but is usually a replication of something you can do in real life (Job Simulator) or something that you cant do in real life for certain reasons (surgeon simulator). These games allow you to be apart of something that is real or very rarely fake (Goat Simulator), by doing this it allows you to experience things that you normally wouldn't be able to experience in your normal daily life so the only way to do it is simulate it. this can allow for a similar experience to FPS since you're looking through the eyes of the character and allows you to play the game through the perspective of the character.
Sim City DS
The game Sim City DS follows the mayor as he creates and keeps his city in check

The Sims 4
The Sims franchise is one of the most popular Sim games and is basically a lie simulator game where you create characters and make them go on with there daily lives, it does't have much of a story just like other simulation games

Goat Simulator
Goat simulator doesn't have any story but is more a spoof on sim games. Goat simulator basically lets the player get to view life as a goat but apart from that it ha slots immense and crazy things that yiou can do, this is a very unrealistic game since you can lick things and drag them with your tongue, head butt them and jump onto hang-gliders. this game doesn't really have a story but it does have objectives that you can follow.
